In Honda Plaza in Little Tokyo. Parking $6 with validation or metered street parking for $1 for 2 hours. Stopped by for happy hour (Mon-Fri 5-8pm, Sat 3-6pm and all day Sun). The Tropical Margarita ($9) was delicious! I don't have to wait for days to order it. The bartender was very attentive. And they have really good music playing the Thursday I went (80's, 90's)! Note, they don't sell food, but there are many options in the plaza and surrounding areas or Little Tokyo or the Arts District across the street.

Love love love this bar in Little Tokyo! They usually open up around 5 on weekdays, and have the best specialty drinks and cocktails that they switch up all the time. the decor is amazing and the bathrooms are a must visit. great for bathroom selfies! It does get busy sometimes, but the bartenders are super attentive! Definitely stop by if you're in town. They have private lot that cost $10 but doesn't have a limit to how long you're staying so start your night there and wander around little Tokyo after! Angel city brewery is across the street, wolf and crane is around the corner, and the main part of Little Tokyo is a block away.

Love this dark, cozy mermaid themed bar. We've gone here a number of times and it's such a cool hang. Yummy drinks and I love that they offer a small selection of food. One year we went around Halloween and they were doing Horror movie trivia. My husband won a Tshirt. Fun place for sure. They also have a lot right out front with free parking.

Such a cute bar! Love their decor. The place is a bit small. Bathrooms are shared, wish they were separated. They smelled quite awful. Overall super cute bar, drinks were decent price.

Been to this bar a few times now and it never disappoints! Drinks WELL WORTH IT! We had just missed happy hour, but our cocktails were about $13, strong but flavorful. Karaoke night most definitely got the atmosphere going! It was packed, but staff handled it gracefully and knew when to cut off anyone acting up. Restrooms were clean but line could get long. Can't wait to come back!

This bar is really cute! We came after work for happy hour and found a seat right away. I ordered the hurricane tots and a Jolly Roger. The tots were delicious! All the drinks are pretty sweet, and have a tropical twist to them.

The Mermaid has been a bar I've been meaning to try for a while now. And I finally made it here. And man, I'm disappointed in myself for not going to this place sooner. The drinks were good. The food was good. And the service was great! The ambiance fits the name of the bar perfectly! When you walk in you just feel like you're being transported to the sea.

Stumbled upon this hidden pearl of a dive bar while I was in Little Tokyo, and I'm so glad I checked it out! I love how the vibes are a lot more chill and casual (compared to other clubs in DTLA, which can feel pretentious), and I felt like all of the patrons we were with enjoyed listening/participating in the live karaoke session. Personally, I probably prefer private karaoke rooms that I can rent out with my friends, but this was a fun experience nonetheless. They have beautifully themed drinks that reflect their namesake, and I loved how the cocktails were decorated with super cute pirate/nautical themed garnishes. Even though it's July, they also have Christmas-themed drinks with super cute mugs that go towards supporting a non-profit. They also have some bar bites, but given how busy the bar was, our bartender forgot to put them into our order. Nevertheless, we appreciated how he corrected the mistake, provided the bar nuts on the house, and was super efficient with churning out orders quickly.

The motivation came when I found out my dear friend Johanna was doing a guest bartending shift at The Mermaid, so I stopped by to show her some love. It was also her birthday which made it extra special. Located in Honda Plaza, the Mermaid is a charming women owned dive bar. Owners, Katie Kildow & Arelene Roldan, founded The Mermaid with the intent of creating a space that promoted positivity and inclusiveness and also highlights women owned spirits. On any given night you'll find Katie or Arelene behind the bar. The whimsical décor aligns with the nautical theme and the dim lighting creates a soothing ambience. The menu features tiki themed drinks with clever names such as, Drink Like a Fish & Get Wrecked. Of course, they make the classics in addition to specialty cocktails for a cause that benefit local charities. Bar food is also available including vegan & vegetarian offerings. In honor of dry January my girl was shaking up mocktails featuring Ritual Zero Proof Spirits. However, she knows I'm allergic to non-alcoholic cocktails, so she made my Mood of the Century with Tromba Tequila. Of course, it was delicious! The bar hosts a variety of specialty events. Tonight happened to be Zodiac Manifestation Night. Arelene conducted energy manifesting rituals and there was a community manifestation board for patrons as well as tarot card readings. Karaoke is every Thursday at 9 pm and Bing every other Wednesday.
